The QN5 Megashow 2011: A Decade Defined In 100 Songs

QN5 megashow 2011 mosh pitt

On Friday, QN5 made Megashow history once again. With the entire QN5 roster, plus assorted friends and fam in the house (PH, Mr. Mecca, I Am Many, GMS, LR Blitzkrieg, Punch & Words, to name a few), the label that coined phrases like “the New Hip Hop”, “Blue Schoolers” and “F*ck You I Rhyme Better“, set out to perform every major single they have had off of each of their artist’s albums, in chronological order, then give you 20 minutes of NEW music! At least that’s what they had PLANNED (rain delays made the show start late).

The idea was simple: Show the fans the complete evolution of QN5 CHRONOLOGICALLY through our most requested songs. It was a brand new format and we’d need to interchange the artists and sets frequently to pull it off. The 10+ years of albums, singles, mixtapes from 6 artists, we spent quite a bit of time figuring out exactly how we’d pull it off. In the end, we came up with a 102 song setlist that would span the length of our history and the show itself. We kept the openers to a minimum with our patented “Song Cypher” format (if you ever see it again at any show. you know where they jacked it from) to keep things moving briskly and started the show far earlier than any past Megashow.

As you can see from the photo, the Highline was jam packed despite the flash flood that hit between 7 and 7:30pm, right before opening and the steady rain that followed. For most shows, that sort of rain spells disaster, but that wasn’t going to stop Blue Schoolers who had travelled across the country and from overseas (as far as Australia!) to be a part of the once a year QN5 Megashow.

Head over to QN5 for a full recap of what went down.
